Loading and Using Keyword Catalog
The Keyword Catalog has been written from the ground up specifically to help photographers and companies find appropriate keywords for their images. It can be used with the following applications:
- Adobe Bridge
- Adobe Lightroom
- Capture One
- BreezeBrowser Pro
- FastPictureViewer
- Photo Mechanic
Basically, you can use the Keyword Catalog in any image browser or editor that can import a controlled vocabulary (hierarchy).
You can load the entire, unified Keyword Catalog or individual modules. Loading only the required individual modules may help to increase viewing speed in some applications.
Adobe Bridge
Having unzipped the file that you downloaded from Keyword Catalog, do the following:
- Choose Window > Keywords
- Choose Import from the Keywords panel menu
- Navigate to the Keyword Catalog folder
- From the Unified folder, select Keyword Catalog 2.0.txt, or an individual module from the Modules folder
- Click Open/OK
To load and delete other keyword catalogs or keyword sets at the same time, instead of choosing Import from the Keywords panel menu, choose Clear and Import. Please remember to backup any current keyword catalogs or keyword sets before using this command!
Please refer the Adobe Bridge help on how to add keywords to images.
Adobe Lightroom
Having unzipped the file that you downloaded from Keyword Catalog, do the following:
- Choose Metadata > Import Keywords
- Navigate to the Keyword Catalog folder
- From the Lightroom Version > Unified folder, select Keyword Catalog [Lightroom].txt, or an individual module from the Modules folder
- Click Choose/OK
NOTE: When you import the unified version, it may take several minutes for the keywords to populate the Keyword List panel once the import task is completed.
If synonyms accompany a keyword, they are automatically added. This may not be what you require. In which case, you can import the 'standard' version from the Keyword Catalog folder and then add the synonyms yourself on a case-by-case basis.
Please refer to the Adobe Lightroom help on how to add keywords to images.

- Copy the ‘Keyword Catalog 2.0.txt’ file from the Unified folder, or a file from the Modules folder
- Navigate to the BreezeBrowser Pro installation folder
- Locate the file ‘keywords.txt’ and rename it (for example, keywords-FOO.txt)
- Paste the Keyword Catalog 2.0.txt file into this location
- Rename it ‘keywords.txt’, without the quotes
- Launch BreezeBrowser Pro
